Thanks for joining me Over Coffee
A writer by passion and profession, I've been writing since I was old enough to know how, so establishing a weblog
seemed a natural progression. By adding a blog to my site, I can speak about my passions and life, share my writing, art
and photos, and comment on current events.

Here's one of the photos I scanned yesterday. It is of my maternal grandmother, Gramma Jay. She had gray-blue eyes and silver hair. She lived and worked on a small farm in Kirtland, Ohio. They had rows of corn and potatoes and tomatoes and nearly half a garden full of strawberries. Roses and peonias all around the outside of the house.
Today is the anniversary of her memorial service. She died a year ago after struggling for years with Alzheimers. They never thought she'd last so long. She had long forgotten who I was even though I'd spent so much of my life with her.
I lost both grandmothers within a couple months of each--my other grandmother, Gramma Irene, left quietly in July of last year. My grandfather told me in detail of the day. She wanted to rest, to lay down for a nap in a position that was usually difficult for her. He'd gone to the living room to go through mail. He fell asleep too. When he woke, and checked on her. She had slipped away...just slipped away. He told it with such peace and serenity.
