Thanks for joining me Over Coffee
A writer by passion and profession, I've been writing since I was old enough to know how, so establishing a weblog seemed a natural progression. By adding a blog to my site, I can speak about my passions and life, share my writing, art and photos, and comment on current events.

If you've explored my website at all, you may have been brave enough to look the legacy pages, which track abuse cases and stories. It's a hard section to maintain--both because it is emotionally draining and time consuming because sadly there are a lot of cases in the news these days. While I continue to gather news stories and file them away thoughtfully (noting with sadness the victims) so I can eventually add them to the section, during August and September I've unintentionally taken a break from updating the section. I say unintentional because I didn't set out to take a break from updating the section...I just kept getting too sad reviewing the stories to dedicate the time doing it (a lot of "I'll do it later" thoughts).

I also was spending some of that time with another web task--my personal 9-11 memorial to the victims. I know there are other websites with lists and photos of the victims of 9-11. I started the memorial shortly after the lists of victims started coming out because I wanted so badly to do something to deal with that feeling of helplessness that watching news 24-hours a day left. I began by adding only those confirmed or declared deceased. As the first anniversary approached I wanted to keep it updated and do a little reorganization of it. It still does not include all 3,000-plus names because some are still listed as "missing" not "deceased" on the master lists I check. I know that I'll have to concede they are gone. Like my animal legacy page, the intention of the memorial design is to keep these victims from just being numbers...but, I digress...

Unfortunately, the stories haven't stopping coming in, and I will update the section soon. One of the last stories I logged and shared before taking the break involved a kitten being tortured on a barbeque grill. Today I got a story emailed to me...the cruelty charges against the allegedperpetrator had been dropped. I was visibly shocked when I read the news and am sad to read that the main witness "now has no memory of it."
