Thanks for joining me Over Coffee
A writer by passion and profession, I've been writing since I was old enough to know how, so establishing a weblog seemed a natural progression. By adding a blog to my site, I can speak about my passions and life, share my writing, art and photos, and comment on current events.

I'm baaaaaaaccccccccccccck! I just have to say that Two Guys & A Truck (or in our case, three guys) are gods. Today we moved into our new apartment -- which I will no doubt rave about soon enough -- and hired movers mainly because we moved into a 4th floor (walk up) apartment.

Over the last month, I've spent many hours packing our large collection of CDs, DVDs, videos, books and magazines. I worked carefully using small and medium boxes so none would be overly heavy. I thought most of them were somewhat heavy given my wimpy muscles and assumed they'd be just right for burly movers. As suspected, when Jorge, Barry and Ricuardo arrived they weren't WWF-sized, but I was confident they could manage our load. They looked around (I should say here that since we purged so much of our stuff when we moved from Cleveland to Virginia, we have just a few pieces of big furniture) and they commented to each other on how easy the job looked. Little did they realize...

The 70 or so boxes it took me several long weekends to pack, they loaded in a manner of minutes--yes, MINUTES! Thirty or so, I believe. The boxes I worried about being too heavy they lifted and loaded easily--usually 3 or 4 at one time. In just about an hour they had the entire apartment loaded, and we were on the road. When they arrived at the new place, a few trips made them re-think their "easy job" comments...still, no big couches, dining tables, etc. to carry made it easier on them and us. They unloaded--dividing deliveries by room--with only slightly reduced speed and items per trip in less than 2 hours (closer to 90 minutes). That includes slight breaks to choke down the Papa John's pizza we offered.

We still have a few car-loads at the old apartment. If only we'd had enough boxes, they easily could've taken everything and with much less huffing and puffing than we'll likely do. We tipped them some and wished it could've been more (budgets get tight when you're moving). We plan to write a nice letter and maybe get them some recognition at work for the fine work and efforts. Nothing broken, everything fast and organized. They were also so polite and congenial the whole time. These guys are golden.

Coming soon: Random thoughts and reviews of recent Buffy episodes and the Paul McCartney: Back in the U.S. concert we attended.
