Thanks for joining me Over Coffee
A writer by passion and profession, I've been writing since I was old enough to know how, so establishing a weblog
seemed a natural progression. By adding a blog to my site, I can speak about my passions and life, share my writing, art
and photos, and comment on current events.

Last year, my husband went to Australia with a small group of people from his company. The trips are a fringe benefit (all travel and hotel expenses paid for by the company) for employees based on seniority. When a member of the scheduled tour group was unexpectedly fired, there was an opening for a male employee to even out the group. It is a once in a lifetime chance...so off he went for 3 long weeks without me.
When Phil returned to America, he shared with me aboriginal artwork from the Aboriginal Australia Culture Centre in Alice Springs. Like him, I was immediately taken by the unique style of native artwork. I dabble in painting a little myself (would love to do more). Hoping that aboriginal artists will consider this imitation as the sincerest form of flattery and not be offended that I, myself, took a first stab at it by painting a frame in the aboriginal style for one of Phil's photos from the trip (stage left).
Now, I said that--to say this: One Tasmanian artist--Mick Quilliam--I recently discovered just blows me away. His work is beautiful and dramatic, and from my interpretation blends traditional aboriginal art style with a clean, contemporary feel. I was looking for some artistic inspiration, and I found it in his gallery of works.
