Malachi's Resume
But something about this one, a handwritten résumé, struck lead dog control officer Julie Haskett. Maybe it was the two pages of loving detail or that it was attached with a rubber band and wrapped in two sandwich bags.
So says the Statesman Journal article about Malachi, an orphaned (abandoned) black-and-tan year-old German shepherd-Queensland heeler mix.
“To Whom It May Concern,” the note found attached to his collar read: “I’m good with other dogs and cats, … yes CATS … I love to run, swim and eat treats. I like Purina One Adult Dog Food...Please help find me a home.”
The fact that Malachi's owners took such loving care in preparing instructions and background information about him does not balance the fact that they abandoned him to the streets (though I've seen far worse 'owners'). If someone took such care with preparing that resume, why did they not seek a (preferably "no-kill") shelter, rescue, or humane society to find him a home?
The good news is that he is safe...for now. I cannot tell if the HS is no-kill, but I would imagine with the press coverage Malachi has a great chance at adoption. Malachi apparently has been neutered and has all his shots, according to his resume (HSWV vets will confirm that before he's made available).
“...I am great with children...I can sit, stay, shake, lay down, play fetch, just say drop it when I bring ball back … I love to swim, I can climb ladder and jump in pool. And get out when I’m done … I’ll go get my leash when I need to go out to potty or I’ll touch doorknob and whine.”
