Cool Star is No Nova but Certainly Super Offering an awe-inspiring respite...keep watching the skis, uh, skies! Hubble beams this image of V838 Monocerotis, an eruptive star in the Milky Way Galaxy. Scientists say the star "brightened to 600,000 times its initial intensity and briefly outshone all others," but unlike a supernova, it remained cool while doing so.
