Thanks for joining me Over Coffee
A writer by passion and profession, I've been writing since I was old enough to know how, so establishing a weblog
seemed a natural progression. By adding a blog to my site, I can speak about my passions and life, share my writing, art
and photos, and comment on current events.

Kensington Cat gets another day in court In the spring of 2001, shocking news came out of Toronto, Canada...a couple of students at an art college were arrested in connection with a heinous animal cruelty case. Anthony Wennekers, 25, and Jesse Powers, 22, were charged for the torture and slaughter of a house cat. The entire episode was intentionally captured by the men on videotape.
The students added insult to injury (torture and death) when they made outrageous claims that they perpetrated the crime "for the sake of art"--one of them claiming to be vegetarian said it was a statement about way farm animals are slaughtered. While these two went through the Toronto court system receiving a slap on the wrists (which is being appealed in May by the Crown), a third accomplice, who appeared on the tape and was not a art school student, remained at large. That changed this week when Matthew Kaczorowski, the 21-year-old previously only identified as "Matt" on the videotape was apprehended. Reports this afternoon are that this former fugitive of justice has been denied bail.
Police are crediting a website, FindMatt.org, with helping bring in this suspect in after all this time. My gratitude over his location and capture stretches to all the websites, flyers and news outlets that displayed his photo, to the demonstrators and letter writers who have worked for justice for this poor lost cat. Now it is again in the hands of the law and judicial system--to see justice served. Let us all hope that Judge Ted Ormston is NOT on this case.
I'll admit it, I wept with joy when I learned the good news that this last accomplice is being called to accountability for part. I (we) needed a little good news.
