Let's Go to the Tape On March 4th, The Seattle Times reported that the Grant County sheriff's office was asking for charges against David Thornton, director of the Northwest Animal Rights Network. The sheriff called for charges of perjury, making a false or misleading statement to a public servant and second-degree trespassing based on a report he filed about an alleged puppy mill he had visited. Thornton apparently claimed 200-300 animals were "in distress and some near death." The story reports:
Deputies searched the site later than morning and found about 60 dogs. All but one, which had recently been spayed, appeared healthy and well-fed, said Marc Norberg, the sheriff's animal control officer. He said the dogs, which are being raised for sale, had adequate living space.
One problem with their assessment--Thornton shot video and today NARN released it. And while he might've exaggerated on the number of animals, the description seems pretty accurate, but don't take my word for it...watch for yourself.
