Thanks for joining me Over Coffee
A writer by passion and profession, I've been writing since I was old enough to know how, so establishing a weblog
seemed a natural progression. By adding a blog to my site, I can speak about my passions and life, share my writing, art
and photos, and comment on current events.

Let Freedom Ring... Today there will be a series of events in DC commemorating the 40th anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. According to events calendars "teach ins" will begin shortly (as of this writing)--at 11:00 AM--with a rally at the Lincoln Memorial at 3:00 pm.
I actually think it would be a great event to attend, but I have issues with big crowds. I'm rather short and often not terribly ascertive in crowd situations, so I tend to get bounced, shoved, squished, intimidated and generally closed in and crushed by people in large crowds. It is especially a shame that so many people seem happily oblvious to how their actions and behaviors (like shoving or smoking) effect people around them. Likely as not, I will settle for recaps and news stories. Its kind of sad though...since participating in such events, historic and celebratory of freedom, equality and peace, was something I anticipated when moving down to DC.
