Our Wish Has Been Granted When Phil and I lived in Lakewood, Ohio, we lived little more than a block away from a restaurant named Aladdin's Eatery. The food was incredible, in our not-so-humble opinions! We would eat Aladdin's probably twice a month--at least! One of the wonderful things about the restaurant was the location in relation to our home and places of business. That is, it was located basically in the middle. We could order dinner as we were leaving work and by the time we reached this fine establishment, it would be fully prepared and packed up for us. And, we could get the food home while it was still nice and hot.
Almost since day one of moving to Northern Virginia, we have been wishing for such a place. "We need to find an Aladdin's here," we'd say with longing. That is, until yesterday. Yesterday, after 3 years our wish was granted! As we have taken a week off from work to kick back and relax, we decided to have lunch out yesterday. Tired of the same old places, Phil asked for a link I'd mentioned on my websources page--as he looked closely at the list on VegDC and to his wondering eyes saw a link to an Aladdin's Eatery in Shirlington (Arlington). Shirley Surely this couldn't be OUR Aladdin's restaurant. It must be a mirage! He followed the link, and we saw that oh-so-familiar logo. Our hearts lept...we clicked on the link to view the menu. All our old favorites appeared on the screen. We were delighted!
So, yesterday we got to eat lunch a fabulous lunch at Aladdin's once more. We ordered all our favorite foods: fruit smoothies, V-Nine and Lentil Soups, Hummos, Falafel and Mujadara. Fabulous! We ate what we could and brought the rest home for a second meal...just like the good ol' days. In case this hasn't gotten through yet, I highly recommend a visit (locations now in OH, PA, VA and IL) -- it is especially inviting to vegetarians though there are plenty of choices for all diners.
