Thanks for joining me Over Coffee

Casualties of War As you may have noticed, I vigorously support the fighting men and women of the U.S. Armed Services--especially those serving in Iraq.
So, it just rips my heart out to see a story such as this one: "Orders to kill adopted puppy leave Florida soldiers mourning" from the Orlando Sun-Sentinel [12.11.03], where (1) an animal's life taken for no good reason and (2) our soldiers are left grieving for such the senseless loss of another (albeit furry) comrade. Isn't there enough death in Iraq? Does it need to be compounded by the killing of four-legged civilian?
I salute you, SFC Bill Ford -- who seen here with Apache, the stray dog found and comforted by the 2nd Battalion of the 124th Infantry Regiment, Alpha Company -- for defending our freedoms and protecting those who need it most from tyranny. Unfortunately, in the end, neither you nor the other 130 soldiers in Alpha Company could protect Apache from becoming a casualty of war. I am sorry that ray of sunshine and hope has been driven out by clouded judgement...and regulations.
