Watch It...for Me
Howdee! So y'all haven't heard from me in a couple weeks. I've been extremely busy with work. All this week I've been going non-stop, even researching and writing at night, and traveling (until this afternoon), which included hopping a plane Saturday morning to Nashville returning to DC early this morning. See, recently we got a call from Nashville Star and their sponsor, State Farm, issuing an invitation and challenge. The Red Cross immediately jumped into action. Several days of intense work culminated in four local concerts and Saturday night's live show. The four finalists Brad Cotter, George Canyon, Matt Lindahl and Lance Miller, the Red Cross and State Farm put together benefit concerts and other events to raise nearly $100,000 for local chapters of the American Red Cross in just a few short days. And, these four artists went the extra mile (as did their fans) to make the concerts and fundraisers a huge success. Last night I attended the live show at the BellSouth Acuff Theater and got to see these talented musicians up close. The evening was amazing as were the clips from the hometown star events. Everyone I met from the network, the show, State Farm and even just the folks in Nashville were amazing. Even the comfortable and affordable hotel -- the Homewood Suites just 4 miles from Opryland -- and their employees were a treat. ©2004 Universal Television Networks. All Rights Reserved. As I said, these folks raised nearly $100,000 (total). Now, the network has generously included donation links on the Nashville Star web site--on the main page as well as on the individual Nashville stars' (Brad, George, Matt and Lance) pages--to boost donations to those communities even higher to push the needle to the other side of $100,000. (Hint. Hint.) While the show aired live Saturday night, there are two encore presentations--Monday, April 26 at 12:30 AM (shortly now) and Friday, April 30 at 11:30 AM. I'd like to encourage my readers, or anyone who happens across my blog, to check out the show. I wanted to share this exciting information with you sooner, but time was just not on my side. [ ] |
