Thanks for joining me Over Coffee

Just an Awesome Person
...and a damn fine folk and fabric artist, too. I had to send this shout out to one terrific person, Teresa (aka Hatamaran). But first, the back story...
A friend of mine in Richmond, Va., has wanted to get a second dog for a long time. Having settled into a new house a few months ago, I guess the time was right. She and her hubby, who just recently celebrated their first anniversary, were on a waiting list for a smaller breed dog they hoped to find. Some way or another she came across a sweet girl puppy (right) in Tennessee who was endangered, a term used for dogs at serious risk for being euthanized in shelters. It appears to me to be love at first sight, and my friend applied to adopt her and save her life.
Her application was accepted, but she needed to get her new puppy home to Richmond - some 9 hours from her present location -- to close the deal and save the dog. Working with another local rescue she began arranging a transport chain, wherein people between here and there agree to take a leg of the trip (donating a few hours of their time to travel) to gradually move the animal to his/her forever home. Desperate to fill some legs of the trip in Tennessee, my friend emailed me to see if I knew anyone. Although I live in Northern VA/DC area and couldn't take a leg, the internet has given me friends across the country. I knew a person in Tennessee that I've only "met" online, an artist and animal lover among other lovely traits, and so I took a chance and sent an email. That is Teresa, who excitedly said yes (after confirming the time and locations with her hubby).
I'd like to invite you to join me in giving her a big round of "cyber applause" by dropping by her blog and leaving her a comment to recognize her for her selfless act in helping a total stranger, a sweet endangered dog and a person she's only met electronically. She's got a great big, generous heart and reminds me (just when I could use it) that the world is not all bombs, fighting, natural disasters and animal abuse. Thank you, Teresa!
Oh! And she's a lot of talent to boot...check out her folk art paintings on eBay. I keep getting outbid, myself, but maybe you'll have better luck.
